               Left Eye on "Untouchable"

Friday, August 17, 2001

Lisa "Left Eye" Lopez was recently interviewed by MTV about her new album Supernova and when asked about the track featuring Tupac, this is what she had to say:

"The track with Tupac is titled 'Untouchable,' and it speaks for itself. Tupac and everything about him is untouchable to me. I didn't record the song with him. I got a copy of the song and his lyrics were on the track. If you want to talk about whether I recorded it before or after his death, I can't answer that. It's still a mystery to me. I'm basically asking him to answer those questions [about the mysteries of life, and of his death] for me. In the third verse, he gives me his view from the other side. Some of the song's lyrics are so heavy. He says things like, 'You remember me legendary, I live eternally.' He produced the song. It's dynamite to me because he isn't known as a producer. It's like a double whammy because I get a song produced by Tupac; a song featuring him that actually features me. I'm featured on a Tupac song on my album."

To check the track out, Left Eye will actually be streaming the album COMPLETELY off her website, www.eyenetics.com on August 16, so you can check it out in advance.

Producer Rick Rock mentions 2pac in XXL

Tuesday, August 14, 2001

In the latest edition of XXL magazine, Rick Rock, producer for such acts as 2pac, C-Bo and Jay-Z, was asked in a small interview how it was working with Pac and he responded: "Ah, it was cool, man. He was the greatest to me, so it was an experience...I can't even describe how fast he worked. I'd do the beat, and in about five to ten minutes, he'd be done [writing his rhymes]. You won't really even geta chance to finish the beat. That's the pace he was on, he was just off the hook."

Just after Suge Knight was released, he did an interview with CNBC's Geraldo Rivera.                Eminem 2pac mention from Rap Olympics

Sunday, August 12, 2001

Way back before Dr.Dre listened to Eminem's demo tape and decided to sign him to Aftermath. Prior to his success, Eminem competed in the Rap Olympics. A freestyle battle-style rap competition pitting the best amatuer emcees across the nation against one another. Here is a line in which Eminem mentions 2pac.
So who you sound like on the mic?/
There was only one Tupac/
So your thug-style just one big syke/
Take a big hyke/
Bitch, you can't test me/
Your best rhyme still ain't shit...

               Suge Knight is free...

Saturday, August 11, 2001

We have received word that Marion 'Suge' Knight, CEO of Death Row Records has been released from prison. As you know, he was sent to prison for the MGM Grand fight involving the Death Row camp, 2pac, and Orlando Anderson, the night of Pac's fatal shooting. Suge says he just urgent to get back to work. Where does this leave Death Row? Some fans claim that now that Suge is out, Death Row will once again rise to the top of the rap game. Only time will tell.

               Outlawz Rattles Puffy

Friday, August 10, 2001

It was rumored that Outlawz were invited by Treach to perform in Pac's Tribute, but Puffy's presence couldn't stop Napoleon from being a Bad Boy Killa. Even though news and MTV try to get it twisted, Lawz records also came with their side and you should decide for your self.

This was in the New York post.

August 3, 2001, -- Tupac rappers rattle Puffy
PROTEGES of the late Tupac Shakur tried to revive the old feud between East and West Coast rappers by picking a fight with Sean "Puffy" Combs at a rehearsal for MTV's 20th Anniversary concert at the Hammerstein Ballroom.

According to several sources, the trouble started on Wednesday when rap band The Outlawz (which Shakur put together before his 1996 murder, and which includes one of his cousins) crashed the rehearsal for a tribute to Shakur and Biggie Smalls. While Combs, Salt 'n Peppa, Run DMC, Ja Rule, Busta Rhymes, Naughty By Nature and others were performing, The Outlawz began, "Messing around and yelling."

Combs ignored the troublemakers until one of the Outlawz snatched the Mike from his hand. "The kid confronted him and Puffy got right in his face," says our source. "Puffy grabbed the Mike back and everybody started screaming and talking trash."

Another spy reports that Combs backed away from the fracas, but tensions mounted until, "Suddenly everything got serious. There was a lot of pushing and shoving and people were flailing all over the stage."

As Combs and the other invited performers were cleared from the stage, security moved in to kick out The Outlawz, who had finagled their way in as guests of Naughty By Nature.

This is all untrue and completely bullshit

this is a press release from tha Outlawz:

OUTLAW RECORDZ

August 3, 2001

The Sensitivity Of The Tupac and Biggie
Legacy Continues

New York, NY… Hammerstein Ballroom, in response to the glut of stories that ran regarding the words between The Outlawz and P. Diddy at the MTV 20th Anniversary party on Wednesday, August 1… miscommunication erupted.

A spokesman from Outlaw Recordz feels their side of the story needs to be heard. The Outlawz were invited guests of Treach from Naughty By Nature because Treach was close with Tupac and he felt that the Outlawz should be there to shed a tear for their mentor and family member (the number one selling rap artist of all time) the late Tupac Shakur.

During sound check for the MTV 20th Anniversary Hiphop medley… The Outlawz and Treach from Naughty By Nature came on stage for Tupac’s tribute at the end of the medley. Napoleon from The Outlawz received the mic from P. Diddy so he could represent for Tupac. After the tribute was done P. Diddy received the mic back. However, Napoleon from The Outlawz felt the need to pay respect to other fallen Hiphop artists such as: Easy E, Big Pun, Freaky Tah, Big L, etc. Both entourages thought there were words being exchanged and there weren’t. Unfortunately it turned into something that it really wasn’t. Because of the sensitivity of the history, people who weren’t involved overreacted. Afterwards both camps went behind closed doors and cooler heads prevailed.

A spokesman from Outlaw Recordz adds, "It was Hammerstein Ballroom’s security who asked The Outlawz to vacate the premises because of the sensitivity of the situation."
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
and here is a interview from allhiphop.com

The Outlawz Speak Out On Alleged Incident
The Outlawz deny allegations that they tried to pick a fight with Puffy while rehearsing for MTV's 20th anniversary at the Hammerstein Ballroom in New York. This contradicts reports from mainstream media like the NY Post (Pagesix.com) and the Fox News Network who claimed the group “tried to revive the old feud between East and West Coast rappers” and declared Outlaw member Napoleon was a “fan” of Tupac.

Group member EDI said in an interview with Allhiphop, “We lost two of the greatest of all time and it's ridiculous to assume we came to rekindle old beef. We are telling everybody from our mouths, that there is no beef.” Instead, he said the group has been focused on working on their new album, Novakane, set to drop on Oct 23.

Props To Yung G & Noble.

Pac & Big Tribute on MTV Germany

Friday, August 10, 2001

On MTV Germany yesterday, they had a tribute to Tupac and Biggie. First they showed Las Vegas and the car he got shot in. Then they showed a part of the MTV interview where Pac said that if he dies he has about three albums ready. They also showed Vegas and some fans that told what Pac meant to them. They showed the interview where he is with Snoop and he said the people can watch his whole life. They then showed how they beat up Orlando Anderson in Vegas and said that Tupac's death was also the death of Death Row, but that some fans think he is not dead and that his legacy is still going strong. They showed small pieces of the videos Toss It Up, I Get Around and To Live & Die In L.A. Then they said that his enemies were Biggie and Puffy who he said that they set him up in New York and then they showed him in a wheelchair. They played almost the whole Tupac verse in the Hit Em Up video, and at the end they showed how he got shot in the video I Ain't Mad At Cha.

2pac's 'California Love' MTV's Favorite Rap Video

Monday, June 11, 2001

To celebrate MTV's 20th Anniversary, they were showing the 'favorite' videos of all time, as voted upon by the fans. For instance, they played the favorite rock album, the most 'What The F&$#' video. Well, for the best rap video, 2pac's "California Love" was picked. They played the video and included 2pac's verse.

MTV Live and Almost Legal + Rap Superstars pay Tribute to 2pac!

Friday, August 10, 2001

MTV Celebrated it's 20th Anniversary tonight with "MTV: Live and Almost Legal" They had numerous musical performances as well as a rap medley. They paid tribute to Biggie, and I figured it would be the usual thing, pay tribute to Biggie, ignore 2pac. Till they dropped 'California Love'.. And for a good 30-40 seconds, they played 'California Love' and chanted out 'Say Tupac!' over and over again. Everyone in the medley came onstage for it, which included Run DMC, Salt n Pepa, Puff Daddy and Black Rob, Ja Rule, Naughty By Nature, Busta Rhymes, and Fab Five Freddy. Most of them either sang along with Pac's "California Love" verse or joined in chanting 'Say Tupac!' The Naughty by Nature crew led the chants with that as well as 'Put your two's in the air'. Funkmaster Flex said shortly after regarding Tupac and Biggie, "Tupac reppin' the westcoast, you know without them, we'd have nothin'"
Personally, although it was unexpected, I thought it was off the hook. I can't remember a time when MTV showed that much love to 2pac on such a high scale. Sure they've had short little tribute shows, but this is one of their huge events, and to take nearly an entire minute of it was pretty nice. As Ja Rule said, "A special performance from out the sky by Pac and Biggie"

Here's a video capture up of around 15 seconds of it. Check it out in Real Video format.

Bad & Good News On The Jerzey Mob Album

Saturday, June 9, 2001

The bad news is that the album will be pushed back to July 31st!!. But at the same time, I think this will give the Outlawz more time to promote the album and make a tight video.
The good news is that more special guests will appear in the album like: Spice 1, Jayo Felony, Erick Sermon, and Treach from Naughty By Nature. Thus, making this compilation a sure great one, if not, a "Classic." So the album will look more better with these all star collaborations: Yukmouth, Bad Azz, Big Syke from Thug Life, Lil Zane, Hot Boyz, Heltah Skeltah, Mc Breed, Spice 1, Jayo Felony, Treach from Naughty By Nature, Fredro Star, Erick Sermon, And Tha Bonapartez..... .
The album will drop on the July 31st and be sure to pick it up because this one will be a sure great compilation and the haters will do nothing but to bow down to something greater than them.
